Next month is Camp NaNoWriMo, and I’m so excited to be participating this year! Camp NaNo happens every April and July, and is similar to National Novel Writing Month in November (check out my blog post about NaNoWriMo here) except writers can create their own goal instead of the customary 50, 000 new words the NaNoWriMo website sets. It can be an editing or writing goal, and writers can choose from novel, short story, memoir, script, nonfiction, or poetry when they announce their new project. Writers can also set their own word count goal! This can make Camp NaNo less intimidating than NaNoWriMo if 50, 000 words seems too daunting of a goal (and that is a really big goal for anyone!)
For this Camp NaNoWriMo, I’m going to be working on drafting Book 3 of my Rose Shore Mysteries. I’ve set my goal to 30, 000 words so hopefully writing 1000 words a day is doable. Wish me luck!
Have you participated in Camp NaNoWriMo in the past? Are you participating this year? What’s your project’s goal? I’d love to connect with other writers participating. Add me as a buddy if you are!
